How's Your Business Pulse?
With Canadian SMEs representing over 50% of our national economy and providing much-needed community support, small business recovery is at the top of everyone’s mind in our post-pandemic world.
This week I’m honoured to be featured on the Startup Women Podcast, sponsored by the Business Development Bank of Canada and Scotiabank, where I discuss how you can better prepare for disasters, explore business recovery in rural ecosystems, and talk about my recent change of heart regarding COVID-19
As the founder of EmergeAgency, I’m passionate about helping entrepreneurs find their best path forward - because I’m an entrepreneur myself. I’ve been involved in the cattle industry, fashion, health & wellness, and everything in between. There isn’t an area of business I haven’t achieved success in as a business owner, a mentor, and a coach.
By assuming critical leadership positions for governments and communities seeking effective economic and disaster recovery guidelines, I’ve had the opportunity to apply my experience and expertise to large-scale situations as well. I played an integral role in the aftermath of the 2013 High River floods and the 2016 Fort McMurray wildfires, which saw the successful ongoing recoveries of both communities. I’ve helped countless businesses, organizations, and individuals to meet their challenges head-on and emerge more confident, disciplined, and stronger than ever before.
So what’s my #1 advice to entrepreneurs who may be struggling as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic? Start by checking your pulse.
A business pulse test is an assessment of your physical and emotional limits right now. It’s the crucial first step to determining your best path forward - even if that ultimately means closing your doors. Remember - success comes in many forms, and it’s up to you to decide what your success looks like.
